El Sábado 11 de Mayo comenzaron las fiestas del Espíritu Santo.  La Cofradía de los Congos fue a buscar al santo a la iglesia de Villa Mella para traerlo a la casa de Sixto Minier para tocarle por una semana antes de la Procesión cuando el Santo volvería a la iglesia.

On Saturday, May 11 began the Holy Spirit Festivities.  The Brotherhood of the Congos went to get the saint at the church in Villa Mella to bring it to Sixto Minier's house and play Congo music here before the Procession, when the Saint should be returned to the church.

Una semana después, el Sábado 18 de mayo nos preparamos para la fiesta del Espíritu Santo.  Vino un grupo de muchachas/os de la ciudad capital para participar en la fiesta, nos pusimos todas vestidos, faldas y pañuelos. La carroza del Espíritu Santo fue decorada por Catalina, Rafaela, Yohanny y Yomara con los colores de la bandera nacional, blanco, rojo y azul y un hermoso arco que adornaba la camioneta.  Dos niñas, Angelina y Yaneris, fueron las reinas que sonreían de la emoción por haber sido elegidas reinas, llevando puesto un hermoso vestido blanco con coronas rosadas y blancas y en sus manos dos ramos de flores.  Melissa fue la reina más pequeña de la fiesta del Espíritu Santo.  Las demás jóvenes se vistieron con pañuelos y vestidos blancos y morados para acompañar la carroza del Espíritu Santo hacia la iglesia.  Los reyes y reinas de la fiesta simbolizan los viejos reyes y reinas de la región del Congo.

A week later, on Saturday, May 18th, we got ready for the Festivity of the Holy Spirit.  A group of other boys and girls came from the capital city to participate. We all dressed up with handkerchiefs, skirts and long dresses.  Catalina, Rafaela, Yohanny and Yomara decorated the Holy Spirit carriage with the colors of our national flag, white, red and blue, and they put a beautiful arch decorating the van.   Two girls, Angelina and Yaneris, were selected queens, and they were very happy with emotion, dressed in white dresses with a white and pink crown and flowers in their hands.   Melissa was the smallest queen of the Holy Spirit celebration.  The rest of the girls were dressed in white and purple dresses with handkechiefs in their heads in order to accompany the carriage of the Holy Spirit.  The kings and queens of the festivity symbolize the old kings and queens from the Congo region.
